Connect Your Checkout to a Store and Gateway
Before you publish your Phoenix Checkout, you need to connect it to your eCommerce platform and payment gateway. This setup links your store data, products, and orders so that transactions are processed correctly through Phoenix.
You can connect Phoenix with major eCommerce platforms and gateways in just a few steps.
Supported Integrations
Phoenix supports direct integrations with several platforms and gateways, allowing you to create a connected checkout experience without coding.
| Category | Supported Platforms |
|---|---|
| Stores | Shopify, Funnelist, WordPress |
| Payment Gateways | Stripe, NMI |
Once connected, all orders from your Phoenix checkout automatically sync with your store and payment processor.
Prerequisites
Before you connect your checkout, make sure you have:
-
Admin access to your Phoenix Dashboard.
-
Credentials for your store.
-
An active payment gateway account (Stripe or NMI).
-
A published or draft checkout page created in the Phoenix Checkout Builder.
Having these elements ready helps you complete the connection smoothly.
Connect Your Store
You can connect Phoenix to your store during onboarding or from the Dashboard settings.
-
Log in to your Phoenix Dashboard.
-
Go to Stores in the left navigation panel.
-
Click Add Store or select an existing one to edit.
-
In the Integration Method, select your store platform.
- Shopify
- Funnelist
- WordPress
Before completing the connection, configure the integration method according to your selected platform. Each platform includes different fields and authentication steps that must be filled out before continuing.
Once connected, your store’s name and connection status appear in the Dashboard.
Use your staging or test store first before connecting your live store.
Verify Store Connection
After connecting your store, verify that Phoenix has synced your data correctly.
-
In your Phoenix Dashboard, go to Stores in the left menu.
-
Find your connected store in the list.
-
Confirm that the Billing Profile and connection tags (like Enabled) appear in green.
-
Check that the Store URL and Domain URL match your live or staging store.
-
If you need to review settings, click the Edit icon to open store details.
Connect a Payment Gateway
Phoenix supports Stripe and NMI as payment gateways. You can connect one or both gateways, depending on your store’s setup.
-
Go to Gateways in the left navigation panel.
-
Click + Add Gateway.
-
Select your payment provider:
- Stripe
- NMI
Before completing the connection, configure the gateway settings according to the selected provider. Each provider includes different fields and authentication steps that must be completed before continuing.
Once connected, the gateway’s name and connection status appear in the Dashboard.
Connect both gateways if you plan to process multiple payment types or currencies. If you prefer, the Phoenix team can complete this setup for you during onboarding.
Confirm Gateway Connection to Checkout Page
Once your gateway is connected, Phoenix automatically links it to the checkout pages under the same store. You can confirm the connection from the Stores section in your Phoenix Dashboard.
-
Go to Stores in the left sidebar.
-
Select the store linked to your checkout.
-
Open the Payment Routing tab.
-
Check that the gateway (e.g., Stripe or NMI) appears as Active.
If the status is inactive, verify your credentials or reconnect the gateway from the Gateways section.
Checkout pages automatically use the gateways connected to their assigned store; no manual linking is required in the Checkout Builder.
Run a Test Transaction
After connecting your store and gateway, test your setup before publishing your checkout.
-
In the Checkout Builder, click Preview.
-
Complete the checkout using test payment data from your gateway provider.
-
Open Orders in your Phoenix Dashboard and confirm that the test order appears in the list.
Testing EnvironmentUse sandbox or test credentials provided by your payment gateway. Avoid using live payment details until your checkout is fully verified.
Payment MethodsIf Apple Pay, Google Pay, or PayPal are enabled, test them separately. Some of these payment methods may require manual activation by Phoenix support.
Once your checkout is connected to the right store and payment gateway, you unlock a fully operational, reliable transaction flow.
